About Us


Snakes Rock is mostly me, Rick and my oldest son Robert. You will from time to time see my other boys Joshua and Joey and even a somewhat reluctant Mary, my wife who puts up with all this. We started as Hops Herp House and did animal rescues and surrenders and shows for some people we know. We then changed our name to Snakes Rock. It has blossomed from there. Rob is bound for college this fall and I will miss him more than he knows. He is the main reason I got into the show side of this and for that I will never forgive him....just kidding. This is a chance for all of you to see what it is like to handle a large snake and to realize what it would take to care for one. That is our main point in any of our presentations. We ask the big question, "can you handle a snake that when it is grown will take a cage bigger than your couch?". There are by estimates hundreds of snakes and reptiles released into our ecosystem every year and many of those do not survive and those that do, damage our ecosystem. We feel that if you have this hands on experience you may realize that its all about the research when purchasing any kind of pet. That's why we call it "Education Through Excitement".
